Our Handmade wooden toys began in the same place they exist today, our shed in the Yarra Valley. Creating toys for open ended play is such a challenge, but with such great reward! our story I'm Matilda, one side of Once a Tree (computer stuff, research, product development, packing, sending and mum to the cutest toy testers in tow n) and my dad Scott who handcrafts everything in our shop inventory. Every bit of material collected, perfectly cut, sanded, routed and finished is all done by him. He has single-handedly helped to turn my ideas/sketches (sometimes far-fetched) into reality. Once a Tree began in the same space it exists today, our shed in the Yarra Valley. What began as an outlet for our creativity ; creating handmade wooden toys for my little boy, quickly became something we found so many others were interested in and longing for - toys that weren't light up, plastic or flashy. We care about quality, sustainability and on top of everything PLAY! Each product is handcrafted using recycled and salvaged materials; thoroughly and carefully designed, cut, sanded and finished, right here by us. Once a Tree is our small dream to create products for kids that are fun and last long enough to be passed from family to family or hopefully down generations. - A toy that is simple will spark creativity in any child -

How to help your toys last for years to come Safety All our handmade wooden toys are designed and made with children’s safety in mind and made to meet AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS AS/NZS 8124. Please read all product descriptions and care instructions carefully to ensure you are purchasing and using each item for its intended purpose so as to not damage the product or more importantly, put your child’s safety at risk. We have done our best to make these terms clear in each description and cannot be held responsible should an item be misused or the information provided be ignored. All products are intended and designed for children above the age of 36 months unless otherwise stated. Some products may pose a choking hazard and it is not recommended that children who still put objects in their mouth have access to our toys unless fully supervised. All products that are coloured have been done so using non toxic food grade dyes, and most products are finished with a natural linseed oil or locally sourced beeswax
